"Most artists can be influenced by their environment. I am particularly drawn to the natural landscape of Dartmoor and the coast of Devon and Cornwall. I am constantly fascinated by the way a certain quality of light can radically alter the character and impact of a subject. It is however the emotion that I endeavour to capture rather than a photographic representation. It is the experience of walking on the moors and taking in the views and the feel of the sand on our feet when walking on the beach that I express through my paintings... It is in fact the emotional image left in one's mind after the event that I portray through considered use of colour, tone, texture and plenty of passion!"
